As the daughter of a hairdresser, beauty was in my DNA...
By the age of 18 I had completed my NVQ level 3 in hairdressing, and so I started to experiment with makeup.
Before I knew it, I was hooked! I loved the art of transformation and obsessively studied Kevin Aucoin’s book Changing Faces.
Legendary makeup artist Gow Tanaka gave me my first job as his assistant, and working alongside him at I-D magazine I gained the best insight into the industry I could ever ask for.
I was later appointed Head Makeup Artist at the Aveda Lifestyle salon in Covent Garden. Working alongside Antoinette Beenders, I created the brand’s campaign visuals every season and Sadie Frost was a regular client of mine. Claudia Shiffer would often come into the salon to talk about ideas for her wedding day hair, so in short it was a dream job and I loved every second.
In 2003 I joined MAC as a fashion week make-up artist for London, Milan and Paris. I worked on shows for Moschino, Dsquared2 and Alessandro Dell’Acqua and assisted iconic makeup artists including Sharon Dowsett, Val Garland and Charlotte Tilbury.
When I married my husband and moved out of the city to East Sussex, I suddenly found myself feeling a world away from all I had known.
After the birth of my first child I had to rethink my career so I could spend as much time as I could with my new baby. It was then that I decided to set up my wedding hair and makeup business.
Making over real women instead of models, my business is now in its 13th year.
I love that I can take the skills I’ve gained over a 20 year career and use them to help brides feel their most beautiful on their big day.
I’ve been a luxury wedding makeup artist for over 13 years and can create any wedding look you want, from boho chic to ultra modern or retro glamour.
What makes me different from the other bridal MUAs out there?
My experience as a makeup artist at London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks.
High stake situations don’t phase me and I know exactly how to make sure your beauty is captured on camera. I’m also an expert at creating long-lasting makeup looks, so you can stay flawless from the moment your wedding starts to the very last dance.
My backstage experience has also taught me that my work is not done until the moment you walk down the aisle. If a last-minute gift or card makes you cry I’ll be right there to fix your mascara. And when everyone else’s hands are too shaky to do up your dress, then I’ll do that too. Being comfortable around expensive gowns is second nature to me now after so many seasons of catwalk shows!
My make-up trials
I want my brides to look flawless just as my models do, so one of the main focuses of your wedding day makeup trial will be skincare. Your skin should be the star of the show, so we’ll work together to prep your face months in advance to make sure we have the best canvas to work on.
Where I work
I primarily do hair and makeup for weddings in Sussex, Surrey and Kent but I am more than happy to travel pretty much anywhere you need me. That includes overseas weddings!
Alongside personal makeup artistry I also work on photoshoots for bridal collections and write for a variety of wedding publications including Bride Magazine.
